Good bye Didi
Well, Didi's going home (or actually on tour) but I thought for sure it would be Tim. Actually we're watching Modern Family in between. I guess this is where the demographics (ok we're kinda old) kicks in. The celeb singers on the show are mostly people we don't know or even like. I'm always thinking that if they were contestants, they'd be kicked off by Simon. Miss Bunny and I are both unhappy with the show this year which is too bad because we were so excited to blog about our favorite show. Bunny's right on - it's so long and sell, sell, sell.
Yeah Crystal, Lee, Casey, and Siobhan!
Well, another two hour ordeal of listening to kind of blah music except for Crystal, Lee, Casey, and Siobhan.
Crystal on the piano and singing was a nice change and I always love her voice and her songs.
Casey was really good and still, cute as can be.
Lee is really a talented guy and I always enjoy listening to him.
I completely disagreed with the judges about Siobhan. I thought she was wonderful and I really felt terrible for her. She looked completely crushed by the judges and in particular, Simon. Geesh, Simon. You can give criticism without being so cruel. Stop already.
The rest were okay or just not good. I hate that I feel so bored with Idol this year. Also, as I've said before I resent them putting on two hour shows just to increase their revenue. Is it just me or did this show used to be fun to watch????

Two hours again...
Just returned from a Las Vegas trip and was too worn out to blog during the show, so here it goes from memory.
What's with the body language between Ellen and Kara? Kara looks as if Ellen has cooties - she's squished up against Simon and doesn't even look at her or comment about anything Ellen has to say. It was very obvious last night. I can't blame her. Ellen is very opinionated about music and what the heck does she know? Especially against Kara.
So, Tim, Didi, Andrew or Big Mike could all go home now and save us the two hour agony. Even though Siobbhan was wonderful last night, I think she'll be one of the last ones to go. As usual, Crystal, Casey and Lee were all spectacular. And, Aaron and Katy are starting to grow on me once I let go of my teenybopper prejudice - they are both very talented singers. So that's it, the shows are just too long.

Tim, Paige, Andrew, Didi - Who's going home?
Tim just wanted to have fun -
Paige admits a poor performance -
Didi just doesn't know what the judges want -
Andrew thinks Simon's mean and he knows who he is as an artist -
We've seen these foolhardy attitudes before -
But it's Paige going home. Hope she gets another chance at fame even though she didn't do well on Idol...

Hoping for Wow Wear
Using the Little Miss Perfect metaphor - I'm hoping the contestants will use some Wow Wear and some Wow Songs tonight if we're going to put up with two hours again.
Lee Dewyse - they dolled him up - looking good. The music was too loud for his voice, but he seemed more confident tonight. The girls will like him. The judges did, except for Simon.
Paige - Guess everyone is getting Wow Wear! She looks really good tonight. Pitchy! S.O. says his ears are bleeding. Even Randy thinks she's terrible and so does everyone else. She'll probably go this week unless there's someone else even worse.
Tim - not moving with the song, other than sliding on the floor.Sang it too slow. We don't like Tim in this house. Doesn't sound like the judges did either.
Aaron- thought he was better last week. But he looks better all floofed up and he did pretty well considering he had tonsillitis.
Crystal - fabulous. She gets better and better. She deserves to win.
Mike- good rendition but not sure it's something special. He's a bit too cocky for my liking.
Andrew - Heard it through the grapevine...too somber. He has a good voice but not exciting enough to be an Idol. He could be a goner too.
Katy - Big Girls Don't Cry - well, we'll see about that. At least it's contemporary. And she's pretty good tonight. Her voice really came out. I forgot that's she was a teenager too.
Casey - he's easy on the eyes. I liked it - lots of energy. But Simon was right, it wasn't anything original. He looks like a rock star, a little like Wow Wear.
Didi- You're no good. Hmmm....her movements didn't ring true. Her voice is good but why all the old songs? When the contestants say "I just wanted to have fun," then they really aren't listening to the judges. Too bad.
Siobbhan - she's so cool. That was awesome. She rocked. And her style is definitely WOW and there wasn't hardly any wow all night.

I might regret the comments about Tim...

All by myself tonight. No family members saying, "C'mon, write that down after giving me one of their snarky comments about a contestant. Okay, I have included some of them. Like last night about Tim's Jesus smile and lady hands - that wasn't me. I'm much nicer than that but succumbed to writing it because it was funny and I was under pressure. So tonight it's just me. I've eaten my Jenny Craig brownie. I'm not fond of elimination night because they stretch it out to an entire hour of drivel and bring back some of the less formidable former Idol stars, like David Cook. Didn't like him then, don't like him now.
Bottom three: Paige, Tim, Lacey - I think that's about right. I predict Tim. I was wrong!
Kesha - what's her name? What a bunch of no talents with fancy props and sparkly lights. Wanna be Black Eyed Peas perhaps?
Lacey's going home - cute girl but her voice wasn't anything special. Will they save her or wait for someone else better, like Lee or Casey. Looks like she's gone.
The Shorthand Version-Ryan settle down

Siobhan was really interesting and very good.
Aaron was excellent-his version of Angie was really great.
Crystal as always first rate.
Lee was pretty good.
Mike, lovely person and good voice. Not so great.
Casey-really good and cute as heck.
Now, Ryan, what the heck? Do you guys have some hack producer making up stunts for each night? Was this like Ellen kissing Simon? Kara, having an emotional meltdown over Mike?
Ryan you are always such a good guy, but I tell ya, Simon came off taking the high ground.
For God's sake, people, could we get back to the show?

Rolling Stone Night
I'm watching the snacks - kid and s.o. eating mini drumsticks while I enjoy a lemon cake from Jenny Craig.
Overall, the contestants screwed up the Stones - made their songs ballady, slow, sentimental and sleepy. The standouts:
Casey James - sang it well, plays great guitar. The best so far but he could do better. Simon agrees.
Sibbhon - Paint it Black. Wow, what a note. The best so far. Simon agrees. Her outfit is interesting too - the prom-ish dress with the boots and a tattoo on her shoulder. She is so unique. I even like to listen to her talk.
Paige - pretty good Honky Tonk Woman. More rock than anyone else, more original Rolling Stones, but she's still not one of my favorites.
Aaron Kelly - Angie. If I close my eyes and don't let the kid-ness cloud my opinion, he's really good. He put a lot of emotion into the song. Second best behind Sibbhon tonight.
Crystal - the best for last. You Can't Always Get What You Want. You should get to be the winner of this competition, girl. You are amazing! And better and better every week.
The rest fall way behind:
Didi B - too ballady, too slow. Playing With Fire.
Lacey Brown - RubyTuesday, like her voice. Pretty good but much too sleepy.
Andrew Garcia - what's with his mom? She looked like she was in a coma. Just a bit flat and boring. Ellen says it was his best but she doesn't really know what she's talking about.
Can't wait for Crystal...
Katy Stevens - floofy fluffy dress, singing Rolling Stones. She's ruined Wild Horses, making it into a soppy ballad. Simon gave her that finger thing he does.
Tim Urban - goofy Jesus smile and lady hands. We don't like Tim. Why slower and slower? With a reggae beat?? Simon gave Tim the finger too. Hmmm... Kind of a dope, not the Randy kind.
Lee Dewyse- Beast of Burden. Don't know.. guess I'm used to the real thing. Randy thinks it's dope. It was just a little too soft, not rough enough. But I like him. I can see him at the end.
Those who deserve to get the boot: Tim, Katy, Andrew, Michael, maybe Paige.
Lilly is Off Idol? Big Mistake
Miss Bunny says: Sorry I am sick with the flu and also have very little to say except, "Why was Lilly voted off?"She had one bad song...that's it. Now there are some very forgettable girls that are still on the show and I honestly don't remember their names. One dark hair, young, one blond girl...sweet, but boring. It's a shame, Lilly and I hope you get a record contract. You are really talented.

Kara, what the heck? by Miss Bunny

Well, the last two nights have been better mainly because Idol is down to 1 hour shows. Those 2 hour shows nearly killed me.
First off, could somebody tell me why Ellen was sitting on Simon's lap kissing him? It wasn't funny, it was awful. I guess she's trying to make her mark or get attention, but please don't do that. It was disgusting.
And then by the end of the show, Kara is sobbing over Mike's song. Now I heard the song and I just don't get it. Also, Kara, I hate to tell you, but you are considered the stable one on the show. It was Paula's job to act all loopy and disoriented with mood problems. I loved her, but ya know the girl had emotional issues and clapped weird.
Kara, we have learned to depend on you as the one who has good advice and knows what she's talking about. Please don't flip out.
Okay, on to the shows. Lee was wonderful, hunky Casey was pretty good, I love little Aaron, and Tim is lovely. The girls: Crystal is always the best, Siobhan is good, Lily bombed, and that little curly blond girl, geesh. Have you ever seen the video of Carole King singing that song? You missed it by a mile.I don't know why the girls think singing in a little girl voice is attractive. And there were two girls that I don't remember seeing before. Simon is right: be memorable! But in a good way!
The Guys Compared to Adam
Wednesday night back at home. No snacks after snacking on the plane and pizza for dinner.
Why is Kara smootching up against Simon and definitely away from Ellen? What's up? Lighting issues?
Lee Dewyze - They floofed his hair and shaved some of his gruff - looks nice. Pretty blue eyes. He's got a good future although I wasn't nuts about the song.
Alex Lambert - I like this kid; sang very soulful. Kara was right on about him needing to loosen him up and he needs to show the real him. He's very shy but adorable, as Ellen says.
Tim Urban - they floofed him too. He did pretty well with Hallelulah. Whoopee, a big hug from Ellen. Judges liked him.
Andrew Garcia - very original rendition of Genie in a Bottle. Simple but effective, but not great.
Just like last night, I'd like a guy to come out and just rock out. I'm tired of soulful, slow songs and want to hear someone belt something out. Think ADAM...
Casey James - he's gonna break some hearts. He sang it with lots of emotion and I liked it. But Simon's right, it wasn't memorable.
Aaron Kelly - all the soppy songs.... no Adam tonight. Probably no Adam-like performers amongst the guys or girls. He's singing it well, but it's hard to believe when he's so young.
Todrick Hall - singing Queen. That's a bit livelier!
Michael Lynche - tired of slow songs. But at least he's singing it with some soul. He made Kara cry for God's sake.

Contrast These with Adam and What do you Have?
I'm back at my daughter's, in town on business for Tuesday's show. Snacks are leftover Dove chocolates from a conference. So glad Idol's only an hour tonight. It's the girls tonight.
Katy Stevens - slow, too slow and kinda flat and gloomy. Song choice, too bad. Add Kelly Clarkson to the list of divas you don't copy. She's just too young.
The lighting is really working for Kara, she looks gorgeous again tonight.
Siobhan Magnus - House of Rising Sun. Showed her versatility while maintaining her strong vocals. Love her style and she takes some risks. She could be the Idol. Simon's off base...
Lacey Brown - good song choice, but it's pretty tame and she has a baby voice.
Man this seems flat and boring and difficult to write for some reason.
Katlyn Epperly - looks like Raggedy Ann tonight. She's not hitting notes and it's too soft. The judges aren't going to like it. Randy sums it up - he just didn't feel it. Needed more guts!
Didi Benami - I just started thinking about Adam. Come out every week in some great getup and just rock out to some great song. So far, it's just so tame. Didi has a great voice but it was just so quiet and snoozy.
Paige Miles - everyone's picking slow, quiet and sad songs. I'd like to see someone come out and just rip. And I'm tired of glittery eyelids. Peanut performance, Simon sez and he's right on.
Crystal - That's more like it! She's brilliant - she took that song and turned it into something wonderful. Her voice is so raspy and deep. She reminds me of Janis Joplin. It's also great that she's so original in her look and she's not letting them doll her all up, although I wish they'd fix those teeth and also her brows. She definitely the best of the night.
Lily Scott - not her best performance. And the outfit was too girlish. Simon's right again, it didn't have the wow factor.
Girls, step it up. You (except for Crystal) all need to pick it up and stretch your voices - everyone (except for Crystal) used their little baby voices tonight and there's nothing new about it.

Please God, Make Them Stop
Four hours of Idol this week - that's more time than I spent at the gym, marketing my business, or talking to friends and family and for sure, sayin' my prayers. Please Idol, give me a break soon and cut the hours. Just a few comments tonight and then it's snack time. Dark chocolate truffle and a few cashews. Just found em in the night stand.
John Park gone * not a surprise.
Glad Alex is safe * sweet kid
Casey's pony tail is so cute tonight. Just the kind of guy I liked at *18*. Sigh...
Jermaine * not another surprise.
Danny Gokey * boring song dude
Didi's going home - can I predict?? Nope, Michelle's the one. I'm flabbergasted! I like her.
Who's next?
Hailey I would guess. Yep.
Snack time.
2 HOURS 2 MUCH by miss bunny
I wanna still love the show. I do. Did they always have 2 hour shows? I thought it was always 1 1/2 hours...anyhow, I feel kind of used. Two hours of non-stop commercials, one after each contestant, makes for at least 24 stupid commercials which spells only one thing: greed. I guess I wouldn't mind so much if I felt entertained, but that's not really true. American Idol makes money off of commercials, record deals, concerts, t-shirts and other things, itunes, and God knows what else. Isn't that enough? Do they have to use up their fan base to make a few more bucks????Okay, last night. Crystal was wonderful and the main reason I still watch. Also Siobhan was good and Lily Scott is amazing. Then there is this blur of blonds and dark haired girls, pleasant voices, pretty faces. One pretty curly haired blond who played the piano, the beautiful girl with the Vera Wang dress, Haeley is adorable and really, just a little girl. She needs to be cheerleading at home at her high school, with her friends. In five years, she will be much better.
At 9 p.m. I switched to Modern Family and laughed my head off. The writing is so excellent I always enjoy it. Switched back, watched a little bit, watched Cougar Town. Came back for the end, blah blah blah. I am so sorry it is such a grind watching Idol this year. I'll watch tonight, but I'll be surfing when my interest wanes.

Wish I May Wish I Might....
Wish the girls are out of sight! Oh that's bad.
Tonight's snack: more strawberries and bananas. S.O. is eating more of the g-d cinnamon raisin bread smothered in peanut butter. I'm trying so hard not to eat it, but I may break down at the half way mark. His saving grace is his cuteness and sense of humor.
Crystal Bowersox - Fashion tip: let them fix your teeth and straighten out the hair mess.Otherwise great voice - a very talented girl. Simon's right - she's a serious talent.
Hailey Vaughn - just don't like her. Too many bows and big earrings, shiny eye shadow, toothy big big smile. Song was just okay. Simon, don't be so mean. You tell him Ryan!!
My S.O. just asked me to read what I'm writing because it's waay too much trouble for him to go on the blog and I realized that it sounds really crappy when you read it out loud.
Lacey Browne - love her hair and her style. Her voice is so good but it needed more energy and she needs to reveal more about herself.
Katy Stevens- not very lively but her voice is strong. The itty bitty syndrome - she needs several more years of seasoning.
Didi Benami - missing the soulfulness of that song even though she's got a great voice. Good performance but I didn't think she felt the song. She's a bit too understated.
Wow, the girls, except for Crystal are not good tonight. Why doesn't Idol help these kids with their song choice? I know they should have some sense but it might be a more interesting show if the judges gave them certain songs that reflect their age, vocal ability, etc.
Michelle Delamor- such a darling girl. She really tried...and Kara said she really felt it. Loved the outfit and I think she'll make it into the final ten.
Lily Scott - one of my favorites and more than Crystal, she's got a great look and style. I definitely see her as a final contestant.
Katelyn Epperly - singing so slowly but wonderful vocals and she's into it. Her natural look is her best - she's beautiful.
Paige Miles - the most lively performance. Strong voice and good moves. She needs a new hairdo and some stylin'.
Siobbhan Magnus- uh oh,Aretha! She's handling it but we'll see what the judges say. I like her because she's a little quirky. She let out an Adam scream! Wow! Glad the judges didn't slam her for singing Aretha.
Is It Really a Man's World? By Miss Bunny

Well, I didn't enjoy the show last night. I had this revelation, however. I figured out last night that the judges are for the most part people who really really love and know music (I wouldn't put Ellen in that category. She likes cameras to film her dancing. That's a big difference.) AND most of the contestants just like to sing. A huge difference.
Mike-started out great, then I get bored every time.
John Park-nice guy, good looking, boring.
Alex- I really like him, his guitar, and his voice a lot. Plus I think the girls will love him.
Toddrick-pretty good but not convincing.
Andrew-love him, but could you cover up those damn neck tattoos. Have you heard of those programs where they take them off for you because they give such a lousy impression?
Even "wonderful" Casey was just kind of blah. Was it the full moon or what?
Aaron is just very cute and I hope he gets a record contract. He'll be in the final 12.
Germaine-Jeepers, creepers, what was up with that outfit? Who is his stylist? It just looked like he stepped out of old Sam Cooke film strip, but not in a good way. That song, "What's Going On" is one of my all time favorites and he ruined it. I love his voice when he just sings and doesn't try to be cutesy. I bet he does sing his heart out at church. For God's sake, pretend you are in church.
On the bright side: Lee was passionate and great last night. I loved it.
Tim Urban-I completely agreed with Simon and I really like his music.
Tonight: the girls-I hope Crystal is out of the hospital and ready to sing!

Switcheroo Night-The Guys Are First
Seems to be a lot of touching between Kara and Simon - I'm just sayin'. Kara is looking totally adorable - is it Ellen's purported fancy lights or just her own cuteness? According to the Enquirer, Ellen the Diva has demanded special lighting to make her look better. Is that why she's changed places with Randy? It's ironic that Kara looks better with Ellen's lights!
As I mentioned earlier, the guys need some stylin' help so I'm adding fashion advice for each contestant.
Snacks for the evening after a trip to Whole Foods: huge strawberries and an organic orange. My s.o. also toasted two pieces of frosted cinnamon raisin bread, topped with peanut butter. He can eat anything, the lucky bastard. Last year Idol was the show we enjoyed together. This season he's playing poker on his iPhone during the whole thing. Sad, but I do enjoy some of his comments.
Michael Lynche- Very good job. His voice is smoooth. Fashion hint: he could use microdermabrasion, something to even out his skin tone and very good moisturizer.
John Park - Gravity. S.o. says he can't wait for it to end, but I thought it was pretty good. He needs to put more passion into it. Fashion hint: find some cute shirts - you look so washed out in a white t shirt. Cute boy though.
Casey Casey Casey - Song was a little flat and needed more range. The guitar was hot but this is a singing competition. But he's so foxy, he's forgiven this week.Fashion hint: muss the hair up more or stick it back in a pony tail. Unbutton the shirt just a tad. All the judges comments were right on. Casey take their advice to heart.
Alex Lambert - better this week, and a good song for him. Fashion hint: the hair cut is awful and so is the jacket, but he's got a nice smile and eyes and still reminds me of John Lennon. He looks like a really sweet guy.
Toddrick Hall - good presence on stage being a dancer. I thought he did a good job with Tina. He was more humble this week which made him more likable. Fashion hint: my only complaint is the shiny jacket, but it wasn't all that bad. He has darling eyes. Give him another week to get it right.
Jermaine Sellers - loved the onesy! That's hilarious.
Why all the old songs, although I thought that his was lively. Fashion hint: more onesies! Just kidding, I liked the look tonight. The judges are right on again.
Andrew Garcia - You give me something. Sang it really well. He's got real talent, but not sure if it's the right song for him. Fashion hint: need non-glare glasses but I like your style and look.
Aaron Kelly - My girl. Uh oh...Kinda boring. We'll see if the judges agree. fashion hint: Just too itty bitty as previously described. Surprisingly, the judges liked it. Simon agrees with me or vice versa, I guess I agreed with him.
Tim Urban - another boring song. But better than last week. Fashion hint:lose the shaggy do.
Ellen's right - no charisma or personality showing. May be going home this week. But then Simon thought he did well, go figure.
Lee Dewyze - a contemporary song for a change. Lee has an interesting range with some raspy tones and some good expression. Fashion hint: degrease the hair a bit but pretty eyes and the style could grow, with a little more stylin'. I can envision him either with a band behind him or single, but he just needs some confidence. Simon's right - start believing in yourself. Another lesson in life.
